Bricklayers 0 - 3 Broadway F.C
Broadway entertained Bricklayers on which was to be a very important game for both teams. Bricklayers as it was there last ever match, and Broadway only needed a point to secure the league title.
Fortunately for Broadway, Bricklayers didn’t bow out on a high as they ran out 3-0 winners and finally crowned Champions 2008/2009.
From the 1st whistle Broadway expressed their intent on putting the game to bed early, as Denton found Rowbotham in the box only for his shot to rebound off the post.
After 25mins Bricklayers goal keeper takes a goal kick but miss kicks, the ball falls to the feet of Rowbotham who races into the box, turns past a defender before firing home for his 29th goal of the season.
Half time 1-0, midway through the 2nd half, changes are made. James Ginder comes on for Johnny Moran and Gary Looker replaces Kyle Denton.
Just after coming on, Ginder picks up the ball deep in the Bricklayers half and races down the right wing, looks up and sees the cross...only for his cross to find the top corner.
2-0.
Another change for Broadway, Marek Adamiuk replaces Elliott Speight, Marek almost immediately scores with his 1st touch but his effort is wayward.
Shortly after that, Bricklayers have a corner only for Broadway to clear midway into their own half, Rowbotham picks up the ball and fires a cross field pass to Matt Murtagh who races down the left wing, as he looks up Marek makes a dart for the near post, the cross finds him and with a 'Zola' esque flick finds the bottom corner.
3-0
Final Score 3-0. Champions 2008-2009
Man of the Match was awarded to Jonathan Eckersley
