Broadway Brook F.C 3 - 1 Farnworth Town F.C

On a bright Sunday morning, Broadway made the trip over to Farnworth Town, which was to be a very testing encounter. Making his 1st start for Broadway was Dan who came in at left midfield.

Broadway started off the stronger, with Jon looking solid at the back, also Andy McIntosh and Dan linking up well down the left hand side.

Ginder was looking lively on the right as he gets into the box only to be hauled to the ground by a Farnworth Town defender, Penalty.

Surely 1-0 to Broadway......but it wasn’t to be, as the Farnworth Town keeper clawed Rowbotham’s penalty out of the corner, in all fairness a very good save.

Soon after Kyle Denton finds space and races towards the box, firing his shot towards goal, unfortunately his effort clips the top of the bar and goes over.

Thats how things stayed until half time 0-0

Half time and Broadway make some changes. Marek and Rick coming on upfront with Ken coming on at Centre half.

After only being on the pitch for 5 minutes, Richard Whitfield makes his mark, after a cross from Rowbotham is met by Whitfield at the back post, another fine header underneath the keeper, 1-0 to Broadway.

Broadway carried on pressing for another goal, but it was Farnworth Town who capitalised on some woeful defending as Ken Ramsbottom picks the ball up deep in Broadway’s half, he tries a maradona turn....but is dispossessed easily only for the Farnworth striker to literally roll the ball past stand in keeper Karl into the bottom corner, 1-1.

Moments later Carl makes up for the error as his long clearance down field turns out to be a great ball, as Marek latches onto it, shows excellent strength and turn as he fires across the keeper into the far corner. Great finish, 2-1

More of the same for Broadway, as Richard Whitfield races down the right, not even a chicken head can catch him, as he gets to the by line and fires his shot come cross goal bound only for a Farnworth Town player to touch it home. 3-1 and nothing more than Broadway deserved.

Final whistle goes another Pre-season victory for Broadway with some excellent passing and movement in the game. Some massive pluses with Dan on the left making an impact, Jon Leaney at the back who was solid as a rock, and Richard Whitfield upfront contributing to Farnworth Town’s demise.

Unfortunately Campo another one from the famous Broadway recruitment program will not be signing on. He now join's Pete in the quest for a club.
