Partington 3 - 1 Broadway Brook F.C

With Broadway Brook looking to bounce back from there 1st defeat of the season, they fielded a strong side away against Partington Village.

Broadway Brook line up. Antony Platt in goal, a back 3 of Steven Dimitch, Jonathan Eckersley and Lee Hamblett. 2 Wingbacks, Andy McIntosh left and Jon Leaney right.

3 centre midfielders of Elliott Speight, John Gilmartin and Sam Jarvis making his debut.

2 upfront with Kyle Denton partnering Gary Rowbotham.

The game started off very evenly with the Partington strikers causing a few headaches with their pace as Broadway Brooks new boy Sam Jarvis bossed the midfield with his tenacity and excellent aerial ability.

As Andy McIntosh looks to get down the left hand side, he is taken out by a nasty looking challenge. A freekick is given but no card. McIntosh was lucky to still be on the pitch as it looked a certain leg breaker.

Midway through the 1st half Broadway Brook came closest to breaking the deadlock as a lose pass from the Partington defender was latched onto by Rowbotham, who’s 1st time shot from the edge of the box hit the foot of the post, the rebound was pounced upon by Jon Leaney who was taken out by the Partington keeper, but to the amazement of everyone, the ref didn’t give a penalty.

Half time 0-0

The 2nd half begins with Broadway on the back foot, with Partington looking to take the lead. Despite most of the attempts on the Broadway goal being from distance, Ken Ramsbottom looks to change things up.

Azuka comes on to make his debut replacing Sam Jarvis, with Jonathan Eckersley coming off and is replaced by James Ginder. Broadway also reverts to a 4-4-2 formation with Kyle Denton switching to the right of midfield.

Almost immediately the changed backfired on Broadway as Partington take the lead.

Broadway change. Jon Leaney makes way for Ken Ramsbottom. Another new shape. 3-4-3

Again it backfires as Broadway find themselves 2-0 down, followed by a 3rd late on.

Broadway did pull 1 back as Rowbotham fired in a wicked freekick which was met by Ken Ramsbottom who heads into the corner.

Final score 3-1 to Partington.

Lessons must be learned by all on this performance, concentrating on the game at hand rather than the title at the end of it, because on this performance the title isn’t coming to Broadway. If we want to be champions, we must play like champions. The next match is a must win, whoever it’s against, Winning is a good habit, losing isn’t. We cannot afford to lose 3 on the bounce.
