Trafford F.C 2 - 1 Broadway Brook F.C

This Sunday we witnessed the 1st loss of the season for Broadway Brook F.C away to Trafford F.C. After being reduced to 10 men Broadway were still the better team but were unfortunate to lose the game.

Team line up

Antony Platt in goal, Andy McIntosh left back, John Leaney right back, Steven Dimitch and Jonathan Eckersley centre back.

James Ginder left midfield, Kyle Denton right midfield, and Lee Hamblett, John Gilmartin and Elliott Speight Centre midfield.

Gary Rowbotham upfront.

Subs, Ken Ramsbottom, Darren Langford, Anthony Dolan, Marek Adamiuk and Dave Hewitt.

Broadway started on the back foot with Trafford dominating early on, within the 1st 15 minutes Trafford found themselves 2-0 up. There 1st coming from a bullet header, the 2nd was a fine lob after a defensive lapse.

From there on Broadway dominated for much of the game and soon found them pulling a goal back.

Lee Hamblett battling in midfield, wriggling from 2 challenges before playing a perfect through ball to Rowbotham, who takes 1 touch before volleying past the keeper from the edge of the box.

Half time, 2-1. After a slow start to the game Broadway Brook finished the stronger of the 2 sides.

Despite there not being a bad challenge in the game, the referee was card happy as Jonathan Eckersley, Kyle Denton, Andy McIntosh and Elliott Speight found themselves in the book.

2nd half, chances for either side where few and far between but Broadway Brook still on top.

A moment of madness....but not from a player, but the referee as Elliott Speight flies into a challenge and wins the ball fairly, the ref quickly pulls out a 2nd yellow which results in a red card for the Broadway captain. Broadway Brook down to 10 men.

Broadway changes.

Marek Adamiuk comes on for James Ginder, Ken Ramsbottom replaces Lee Hamblett.

Unfortunately Broadway Brook couldn’t find the break through needed despite being the better team for majority of the game. Final score 2-1 to Trafford F.C

Man of the Match was awarded to Steven Dimitch who was excellent from the 1st whistle, with a commanding performance all round.
